Ocean Beach Update
All of us would like to say THANKS to all our veterans for their service, keeping us free to enjoy our way of life.
We would also like to welcome Ashley Swartz to the Board. Ashley is a year round owner with a financial background who expressed interest in helping the community.
You may have received a letter that FEMA will raise your flood insurance 25% annually if you do not have a flood elevation certificate. Brian Quinn, an associate with local engineering firm Najarian Associates are offering Ocean Beach residents a group discount. Please see the offer letter on the Club’s web site or contact them directly at 732-389-0220 or 732-250-6702, ask for Brian Quinn or Robert Kuhne. This offer is being supplied as a service by a private firm, the Club has no involvement.
Bayview Dr Paving
The contractor has not been able to firm up a start date as a result of another job. Unfortunately it looks like the project may be delayed to spring as asphalt close mid-December. In the interim repairs to a broken drain will be undertaken next week.
Engineering work has started on the east side of Pelican, Marlin and Dolphin. We’ll keep you updated.
There will be a limited staff available to handle emergency work such as pumping flooded roads.
We’ve been notified that our insurance provider for Director’s & Officers Liability coverage will probably not renew as a result of ongoing and new litigation. Usually notice at this time means future coverage will cost more, either in higher premiums or a higher deductible. Fellow members, it’s time we put an end to this insanity of members suing the Club, because they can with no repercussion. At our last two membership meetings we proposed a By-Law that would enable the Club to recoup fees for frivolous lawsuits which narrowly missed becoming a By-Law. In January, we will hold a Special meeting to address this issue. If you can’t attend, we ask that your voice be heard and vote by mail or email.
Our sympathy to the family of Nicholas Chanda, a former trustee who passed away on October 30th. Nick was well known and liked by the community as the head of the Security Patrol for many summers. Long-time residents will remember him for his ever present smile and cigar! Please see Nick’s photo on the Club’s web site.
